It spells your code the way you wrote it.
Untype reads the file, dependency, and branch names in your project — so EngineRoutingTranscriber lands exactly like that, not “engine routing transcriber.” It knows your Claude Code skills and slash commands too, alongside your shell and git aliases and your just, make, and npm targets — so “slash code review” becomes /code-review. It only ever spells them — it never runs anything — and folders you exclude are never read.

Cleaned up, never rewritten.
Cleanup strips filler and false starts and fixes grammar and punctuation — but never changes your meaning or adds a word you didn't say. Commit hashes, ticket IDs, UUIDs, paths, URLs, and flags pass through byte-for-byte; if a single one can't be verified, your raw words win. It runs on-device and falls back to exactly what you said whenever it's unavailable.

Your words never leave your Mac.
Transcription and cleanup run on-device. Your audio and text are never uploaded and never stored — only the single most-recent result, held in memory, and never an account. The only network Untype touches is a one-time model download, optional auto-updates you can switch off, and — once you buy — an online license check. Private by construction, enterprise-safe by default.
Reads what's on your screen
The moment you press the trigger, Untype reads the identifiers visible in your focused window — terminal scrollback, the diff, a failing test name — and folds them into what it's listening for. What you're looking at gets spelled right. Read once, never stored.
Teach it your spellings
Add the names it keeps mishearing — a product, a person, an identifier — with an optional “sounds like.” “Whisper kit” becomes WhisperKit every time, in any register, even with Cleanup switched off.
Near-instant
The on-device engine transcribes in about 80 milliseconds and streams while you're still holding the key — so your words are already waiting when you let go. No spinner, no round-trip.
Spoken symbols
“Open paren” becomes (, “new line” breaks the line, “backtick” fences a snippet. The punctuation you'd break your flow to reach for — just said out loud.
The right register, every app
Per-app rules pick the register automatically — Standard, Messaging, Formal, or Code — so a commit reads like a commit and a chat reads like chat. In the terminal, Code register keeps commands verbatim; hold the Force-Code chord to force it in an editor's integrated terminal or an agent pane.
A brake on destructive commands
Dictate rm -rf or git push --force and Untype still types it — but holds back the Return, and tells you why. Friction on the robot, not the human.
Hands-free send
Push-to-talk can press Return the instant you release the key — so a spoken prompt to your coding agent, or a command in your shell, fires without your hands leaving the desk. The destructive-command brake still gets the last word.
Your languages, honestly
Dictate in the languages you actually use. Untype commits to a language only when the audio gives it evidence — and if it ever guesses wrong, Redo re-runs your last dictation in the language you pick.
Works in every app
Untype types by pasting, so it lands in Electron apps, web views, and terminals where the “clean” macOS accessibility API silently fails. Your own clipboard is saved and restored untouched — and never archived by your clipboard manager.
